In the footsteps of Ravenés

Special tour in honour of the re-builder of Cochem Castle

We look forward to taking you this year on a special journey through time to the 19th century. to be allowed to take with him. Follow with us in the footsteps of Louis Ravené, the personality so important to Cochem Castle.

In 1868, he bought the castle, which had previously been destroyed in the War of a Succession, had the castle rebuilt in a very short time and shine in its old splendour. But who was this remarkable personality and what helped him to invest a fortune in such a mammoth project?
What conditions had to be met and how did the difficult reconstruction happen?
In this 60-minute guided tour, the Victorian costumed guides will accompany you to the otherwise closed private rooms of the Ravené family, then through the public rooms of the main chateau with dining room, Kemenate, Knights' Hall and, at the end, into the beautiful chapel, which is otherwise only accessible at weddings. Historical views and old photographs of the castle and its inhabitants from the last 150 years can be admired for the first time in the rooms and testify to how the premises have been adapted to the respective tastes and living culture. We cordially invite you to marvel at Ravené's dream of a residential castle that had come true.
